The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week 32!

It’s hard to make how bandaged-up a character is look alarming when your title character is a mummy.

I guess I'm giving Inktober a try, this year.

And, since I need to work out my designs for the first generation of Titans from Greek myth, I'll doodle those folks. This is Oceanus, first of the Titans. The Greeks conceived of the Ocean as a giant river that circled the world, which is why he's got a serpent-body.

I almost exclusively draw with brush and ink, but I think I'll lay with nib pens for these.

Talk Like Ezekiel Tar Day

Talk Like A Pirate Day reminded me of this old page from The Preposterous Voyages of IronHide Tom.

If you can  figure out the whole story, I'll buy you a casket of sweet Spanish rum.

The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week 17

A musical interlude!

You can listen to “Come Take a Ride in My Airship” as recorded in 1904 by J. W. Myers here.
Or by Natalie Merchant, here.
But, c’mon, you’re going to want to hear it by Johnny Cash, right?

VOTE! for the Mummy’s Sabbatical on Top Web Comics! We’re doing pretty well for a new comic, but the more votes we get, the more people can discover our little strip! You can vote everyday! Thank you!

The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week 10

A side note: Although I’m wholly responsible for this state of affairs, I am, nonetheless, bothered by the fact that Setka wore his tweed jacket while working under a machine that is clearly going to leak oil. That’s just irresponsible. It’s a Nigel Cabourn, guys.

The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week 9

Welcome to the Madeleine Library—For Those In Search of Lost Tomes.

Honestly, I'd be happy to forget about Fran and Setka, and just draw this crook-necked librarian for the rest of the strip. I hear next week he sharpens his pencil!

The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week Two!

There are now enough strips that you can actually use the navigation buttons! LUXURIOUS!
Also, many technical issues have been resolved with the website, thanks to my clever and generous pal, Duane Wilson.

The Mummy's Sabbatical, Week One

The first strip with ACTUAL STORY CONTENT is now online!

We're still having some trouble with the website. Right now, "" is nothing but dead internet, and you have to go to "" to actually see the strip.

It'll get fixed. Eventually. Once computers advance enough to respond to dark looks and exasperated sighs.

EDIT: Fixed? I think? For now, at least.

The Mummy's Sabbatical

A placid campus is suddenly rent by the screaming launch of Antique Rocketry! Thus Setka (former Pharoh, Professor of Dynamic Egyptology and Romantic Poetry) and his graduate assistant Francesca (former girls’ soccer team, promising young Frankenstein) explode into nerve-searing, soul-flummoxing adventure in the monster-rotted depths of our benighted Solar System! Armed with Ancient Knowledge, Timeless Pluck, and some snappy Contemporary Fashions, our dauntless heroes face viperous draculas, abominable lagoon creatures, odorous opera phantoms, towering colossi, and other slavering enemies of all that is good and decent in their quest uncover the devastating secrets of the Ancient Astronauts!

It's a webcomic by Benito Cereno (Writer of such comics as Tales from the Bully Pulpit, Hector Plasm, The Tick, Invincible Presents, and Guarding the Globe. Freelance classicist. Professional Christmas enthusiast.) and myself (Doodler, teacher of doodling. Comics include Pulpatoon Pilgrimage, The Preposterous Voyages of IronHide Tom, and O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi.).

Updating Fridays for the foreseeable.
