MIC, The Military-Industrial Complex

Over at FACA, the veil of secrecy has been lifted, and I can now reveal my role in arranging for the participation of the Military-Industrial Complex in the present, ongoing tournament. And of course, I couldn't be more proud of the unbroken string of victories for the MIC that have followed, each more glorious than the last, spreading Liberty, Democracy, and Free Markets to the darkest corners of the Internet.

What? You've been getting your FACA news from the enemy-emboldening media naysayers? You were under the impression that MIC lost its very first round? Well, here's an expert in the field to set you straight:

In an altogether defferent arena: Hey, New York, what the hell happened to all the whitefish?! Pretty much the only reason I went to MoCCA this weekend was because I was having a craving for whitefish salad on a decent bagel. But every deli I went into has ditched the NY-standard steel tubs of cream cheeses and salads for stacks and stacks of pre-made wraps and panini. Wraps over whitefish, New York? Really?

It is always hard to return to New York after an extended absence, because the city changes so quickly. It's kind of like spending the night at an ex-girlfriend's apartment. You still know the layout, but all the details are different, and each difference makes you feel more and more excluded from what was once intimate.

But, my gawd, no whitefish? That's like spending the night at your ex-girlfriend's apartment and finding a well-thumbed copy of Dianetics on the back of the toilet. Can things have changed so drastically?

Rossum's Rooms pt. 2

Oh, I'm working, alright, making little doll-house rooms and furniture for my stick figures. Soon... they will dance!

Say, we all know steampunk, right? And then there's clockpunk, for those who think the Victorian Era is too durned new-fangled. But what do you call retro science fiction that has more of a Twenties/Thirties vibe? Jazzpunk? Ragpunk? FutureModerne? Space Deco? There must be a term for this already, right?

It just keeps on keepin' on!

Congratulationiest congratulations to Dewey Decimator, champion of FACA 3 Southern Division!

Dewey now sits on a bench for a few weeks, while the other divisions sort themselves out. And speaking of other which: The Westerns are up and running already! So go and place your votes, already!

Some people call him "Maurice." Woo-Whew!

But I'll always think of him as the Gangster of Love.

The Australian Op, the dude in Deutschland, our Hamburg Helper, Marvelous Matt Balara, has taken up the gaunlet I threw down, and asked if I would doodle him one Tex Centauri, Space Cowboy! Look for his adventures on a Tweet near you!

We will drag Twitter, kicking and screaming, into the realm of the entertaining. Don't you wish you were in on the fun, too?

Oh, and here's a quote that I came across in the paper today:

Fandom is simply the force by which personal disconnect attains interconnectivity.

Since arriving in Toronto on Monday, I have barely left the couch. I'm not sure what I have, but it seems to be a combination of the flu, mono, conjunctivitis, and a brain tumor. It's all I can do to occassionally haul myself over to the Lovely Wife's computer to check on Rock Grant, Agent of BRAWN!

And, yeah, it should probably say "PLAYG!!!" Whaddayoo want? I'm sick!

Rock Grant, Agent of BRAWN

What do you do when a minor character from a short strip you drew suddenly shows up in the real world? Or, at least, on Twitter? Call a lawyer? A priest? Paul Auster?

My favorite tweet so far: I took two fingers of tiger milk, and then I took two more. And what good's a hand with four fingers? I poured myself a decent thumb.

You know, it'd be pretty cool if Rock Grant, Agent of BRAWN had some other fictional characters to keep him company (hint, hint).

Rossum's Rooms

Hey, the Internet's back on! Did I miss anything good?

Here's some preproduction art for the project I'm working on right now. These are the Differentiation Tanks. Things grow in them.
