Intrigue!

FROM THE TOP SECRET FILES OF THE MYSTERIOUS MISTER SLINGER:

At last! Evidence of the Mysterious Mister Slinger's masked mentor, that brilliant and bombastic brutalizer of bad guys, Boomarangarella! In order to placate my itching curiosity about his missing comrade-in-projectiles, MMS sent me this "tactical file." Tantalizing, no? But it offers as many questions as it does answers: Who is this Throwing-Stick Athena? What is the TIGER FORCE(tm)? Do malfeasants really wear horizontal stripes?

This Boomerangerella must have an awfully strong arm when making her weapon fly because she's throwing it backwards :)

April and paige,

Two excellent points. Sadly, I am merely presenting this image as it was provided to me, and am unable to answer your questions. However, I am hoping to hear from an expert on such matters, soon.

Ichthy knows MS's weakness!

You know Matthew Sweet's weakness? Good, that smug bastard needs to be taken down a peg or two.

yeah, I agree!

C'mon guys, everyone should love Matthew Sweet.

Also, the diagramomattique in this post is one of the greatest additions to civilization in the last 200 years.

Seriously, I want a tattoo of the TIGER FORCE (tm).
It can be a point of both Memphis and Memphis comic-ers pride.
Plus then I can be in Boomerangarella's fan club.

Chris,

Please feel free (advised, even) to print out the image at a size that can be folded and kept in your wallet. Keep it handy for quick reference.

The multiple layers of Memphis/comics meaning go even deeper: That tiger's pose is based on a Venusian tiger that attacked Captain Marvel in one of his earliest comics appearances (I'm away from home, so I can't cite the issue)... the very same tiger who, according to some, came back seventy-some issues later as Tawky Tawny!

More on Boomarangarella and the possibilty of joining her fan club to come.

You know, I noticed the lightning bolt-esque stripe on his paw.
Armed with this new information and (hopefully) your blessing, I think I have to seriously look into adding this to my tattoo portfolio (aka arm).

i actually thought the same thing about the tigerforce when i saw it. and all that background stuff makes it that much more awesome.

i think it's a great idea, chris.
so great, i might steal it from you...

Proving you really do learn something every day, I was prepared to comment on the historical significance of malfeasants and their stripes of choice, citing first those lovable felons the Beagle Boys.

Lo and behold, my recollection of their horizontal fashions was way off. They prefer to work in red and sometimes gray, but never the stripes.

I wonder who I was thinking of...?

Chris and April,

If'n you're serious, I can provide you with the original art, for ease of tattoo reference. Go forth with my blessing. And, obviously, you should both get the tattoo, but in mirror image of each other, so that you can touch them together and invoke your very own TIGER-FORCE(tm).

The Chris who doesn't care enough to have his skin permanently marked by my stray doodles,

Yeah, I wouldn have sworn the Beagle Boys wore stripes. I must have been thinking of the Hamburglar. Isn't learning the best?!

That is a great idea!
I'm going to have to go ahead and make that request for a bigger shot of the tiger. I've got a tax return coming!

Yes! Let's do our part to keep the economy stimulated! I'll pass along a hi-rez image when I'm back in town.
