The! Best! of! MEMPHIS! Yipee-Kie-Yie-Yah!

Like a one-two punch from the golden fists of ego-inflation: two blasts of external validation within a single week!

The Memphis Flyer is the local alternative weekly newspaper, and they just ran their annual "Best of..." issue, and, well, they were kind enough to include me. Of course, they also said that the best place for singles to hook up was church. So, you know, grain of salt.

By the way, I think "graphic fabulist" is a much better description of what I do than "graphic novelist." Although I'm still pretty happy with straight-up vanilla "cartoonist."

I was wondering if Greg had made that word up; I presumed it meant "one who is fabulous" rather than "one who tells fables", though they might be the same thing on a certain linguistic level. Both apply, in any case.

Your sphere of domination continues to grow... Grant Morrison will surely call with his pitch for ALL-STAR IRONHIDE TOM in a matter of hours now. Don't let him talk you into a crossover with 3-D Man, however.

Graphic Fabulous... indeed.

Thanks, everybody.

Chris and I were recently having a manly and vigorous conversation about whether or not it was possible to revamp worst-dressed-superhero-of-all-time-including-
all-Liefeld-creations, 3-D Man, into anything other than a silly retro gimmick. And, well, being the Mxyzptlk of a psuedo-2-D world like the one IHT inhabits might be the closest 3-D Man can ever get to wowing the bystanders.

Note: It takes a Geek Quotient of 57 or higher to understand the previous paragraph.

Nam D-3...?

We probably better take this offline before we scare away the remaining respectable types.
