Another life goal met.

Dean Zirmer of Leeds says: Having read the Ironhide Tom comic you released on Free Comic Book day, I decided, on a whim, to get a tattoo.

Bravo, Dean! I applaud both your taste and decisiveness.

And, for those keeping score at home...
Life goals achieved:
1. Know the loving touch of a woman.
2. Meet Will Eisner.
3. Know the loving touch of another, slightly taller woman.
4. Have someone out there like one of my comics enough to get a tattoo of one of my characters!

Life goals yet to be achieved:
1. Get positively reviewed by the New York Times.
2. Develop my own martial arts fighting style called "Sleeping Tiger Ink Fu."
3. Retire to Italy.
4. Have someone out there like my comics enough to get a full bodysuit of tattoos of my characters! (Hint, hint, Dean.)

I'm still working on getting the Sun- and Cloud-Gods tattooed on my shoulderblades.

Do it! Say, did I say I was going to send you a clean scan of that image? Did I follow up on that?

You have no idea what I have planned, Joel . . .

What, you're not going with the portrait of me, dressed in a toga, riding a ship's anchor like it was a Harley, leaving a trail of fire that reads "Momma don't love me," and all manner of demons and putti are flying behind me, throwing down playing cards, loaded dice, and bottles of Winsor-Newton permanent black ink?

Man, I thought we had a deal.

That's pretty high marks there, for sure! Way to achieve those life goals. I forget; do you have any tattoos of your own?

What is the tattoo of? I can't make it out.

Steph,

Yep. I have a tattoo of a blue thumbprint on my shoulder. It started out as something different, but it seems that my skin is not receptive to the jabby-pokey love of the tattoo needle.

JCC,

Y'know, I'm not entirely sure. It's IHTom, but I can't make out the details. Is he sweating? Or maybe carrying two buckets of water? But, frankly, I'm too embarrassed to ask a young woman to send me a clearer photograph of her chest. It hardly seems preux chevalier.

This will forever be one of your funniest posts.. to me at least.

Any extra jollity in that post is a sign of how moved I was by the occasion. People looking for a good tattoo should feel free to inspire me similarly in the near future.
